ISLAMABAD: The senate has rejected the conversion bill of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Corporation into Public Limited Company.
According to the Dawn News, Federal Minister for Climate Change ‘Zahid Hamid’ introduced the PIA Corporation Conversion Bill 2015 in the Parliament. However, most of the Opposition and other Members voted against the bill.
As per statement of Opposition, the bill does not protect the rights of employees. On which Government did not take agreed to Opposition so far. That’s why bill cannot be supported under any circumstance.
The Federal Minister moved stimulation for the consideration of bill but the stimulation was also rejected in the Parliament.
Relevant committee also recommended not to pass this bill that’s why it would not pass, said by Chairman ‘Raza Rabbani’ and Deputy Chairman ‘Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri’ of Senate.
After the rejection of the bill by the Senate, Government called the joint session of Parliament and decided to pass the PIA Corporation conversion bill into Public Limited Company.
Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has sent the summary to the Prime Minister for summon of a meeting on March 10th.
In the long run, Senate rejects PIA Corporation changing bill at last.
