IMMUNE SYSTEM:

A human body system or process that makes resistance to toxin and infection. this is a defensive system that protects the human body from several types of disease. The organs of the thymus gland, bone marrow, and lymph nodes are included for the immune system, The immune system exists throughout the body and involves different cells, organs, proteins, and tissues.white blood cells are one of the important parts of an immune system.

Immunity:

Everyone has a different immune system in his body but, a common thing is, at teenage, this becomes stronger. By this time, we would be able to more pathogens and we develop more Immunity. Thus, the teenager gets illness less than children.

when an antibody has been produced once, a duplicate stay in the body so that if the same bacteria appears again, it can be defeated quickly.

That is why such diseases, like chickenpox, you get it just once because the body saves chickenpox antibody and waits to destroy it for next time when it comes again. It can be defined as “immunity”.

Types of Immunity in Humans Body: Innate, Adaptive, and Passive:

Innate immunity

We were born with a specific level of immunity to invaders bacteria or germs. Human immune systems, That is similar to those animals, will strike external invaders by day 1. This innate immunity consists of the external barriers of the human body, this is the first defensive line for pathogens.

Adaptive (acquired) immunity

it rescues from pathogens as we grow through life. When we are captured by diseases and get vaccinated, we build up a vast number of antibodies to several pathogens. sometimes This is supposed to as immunological memory because of our immune system, it remembers previous attacking bacteria enemies.

Passive immunity

This immunity comes from another source. For example, a baby takes antibodies from his mother by placenta before his birth and after in breast milk. This immunity protects the baby from some special infections during the beginning years of his life.

White blood cells

White blood cells are leukocytes. They rotate in the body by blood vessels and the lymphatic vessels. White blood cells are on constant patrol and searching for pathogens bacteria. When they detect a target, they start sending signals to other cells to do the same work.

Our white blood cells are present in the body in different, these are quoted to as lymphoid organs. Those include the following:

  • Bone marrow is found in the bones, it also makes red blood cells.
  • Spleen, that is an organ that purifies the blood. It exists in the upper left of the abdomen (belly)
  • Thymus, that is a gland between the lungs and just bottom of the neck.
  • Lymph nodes, the small glands throughout the body, are connected by lymphatic vessels.

The two main types of leukocyte

(White Blood cells):

Phagocytes

These cells move around the pathogens and break them, completely eating them. several types of Phagocytes, including:

  • Neutrophils, this is the very common type of phagocyte and have a tendency to fight bacteria.
  • Monocytes, this is the biggest type and fight against bacteria.
  • Macrophages, this is a patrolling agent for pathogens and also remove weak cells.
  • Mast cells, they do jobs and help to cure wounds and fight against pathogens.

Lymphocytes

Lymphocytes help the body to remind previous attacking bacteria and identify them.

Lymphocytes were born in bone marrow. Some remain in the bone marrow and develop B lymphocytes (B cells), and others lead to the thymus gland and become by itself T lymphocytes (T cells). Those two cells do different works:

  • B lymphocytes, it makes antibodies and warns the T lymphocytes.
  • T lymphocytes, they destruct weak and useless cells in the body and help to remind other leukocytes.

Immune system disorders

the immune system is so complicated, there are many complex ways in which it may go wrong. immune disorder  includes three categories:

Immunodeficiencies

That occurs when one or more parts of the immune system do not work. Immunodeficiencies may be caused by age, obesity, and alcoholism. In progressive countries, malnutrition is a general cause. AIDS is an example of an immunodeficiency.

Autoimmunity

In the autoimmune situation, by mistake, the immune system targets healthy cells, rather than external pathogens or weak cells. In this scenario, they cannot change itself from non-self.Autoimmune diseases consist of celiac disease, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and Graves’ disease.

Hypersensitivity

By hypersensitivity, the immune system overreacts in such a way that destroys healthy tissue. For An example is anaphylactic shock where the body answer to an allergen such strongly that it may be life-threatening.
